Japanese Flower by Kamisaka Sekka

Kamisaka Sekka (1866 to 1942) brought the Rinpa tradition into the modern era with flat colour and graphic composition. This flower study pairs soft white blooms with a sweeping golden ground, a design that feels remarkably contemporary more than a century on.
