Paul Cézanne Exhibition 1890-1895

This exhibition poster from the 1890s documents a Cézanne show at a moment when almost no one understood what he was doing. He spent his career painting the same mountain, the same card players, the same basket of apples, obsessively working through problems of form and perception that wouldn't be properly understood until Picasso and Braque turned them into Cubism. The poster is a piece of art history, and a beautiful one.
