Collection: Villemot Wall Art

Raymond Villemot (1911-1989) was a French graphic artist and illustrator best known for his colourful posters promoting tourism, transportation, and consumer products. Born in Angers, France, Villemot began his career as an apprentice lithographer. He soon developed a distinctive style that featured flat areas of colour and bold outlines. This style was well-suited to the medium of poster art, and Villemot became one of the most prolific and popular poster artists of the mid-20th century. His posters for companies such as Air France, Bally Shoes, and Orangina were vibrant and eye-catching, and helped to define the look of consumer culture in post-war Europe. Today, Villemot's posters are highly sought-after by collectors, and his work remains an iconic example of 20th-century graphic design.
