Collection: Helen Frankenthaler Wall Art

Helen Frankenthaler was born in New York City in 1928. The daughter of a successful Manhattan attorney, she showed an early interest in art and was given her first paint set at the age of five. After studying at Bennington College in Vermont, Frankenthaler began her career as a painter in the late 1940s. Working in a variety of styles, she quickly gained recognition for her abstract canvases, which were often compared to the work of Jackson Pollock. In 1952, Frankenthaler had her first solo show at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York, and over the next several decades she became one of the most celebrated American artists of her generation. In addition to her paintings, Frankenthaler also produced a variety of prints, sculptures, and tapestries. She died in 2012 at the age of 83.
