Louise Bourgeois was a world-renowned artist who worked in a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, and installation art. Born in Paris in 1911, Bourgeois began her art studies at an early age. She attended the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts and studied under the noted painter Fernand Léger. In 1938, she moved to New York City, where she continued to develop her own unique style. Bourgeois remained an active artist until her death in 2010. During her long career, she received numerous honors and awards, including the National Medal of Arts and the Legion of Honor. Her work can be found in major museums and galleries around the world. Louise Bourgeois was a groundbreaking artist who left a lasting legacy.
